Panthers 69, Highlanders 79

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- On Saturday afternoon the Principia Panthers traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois to play downstate conference rival MacMurray College. It was a hard fought game with lead changes throughout. The teams entered the half time locker rooms with MacMurray leading 39-37. The second half was more of the same with the Highlanders edging to a 6 point lead with 5 minutes to go. Principia had lost their center Justin Ball to fouls at the 12 minute mark and could not quite counter the inside game of MacMurray's big men. Larry Patterson led the Principia charge with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal. The Highlander's big men, 6'8" Clayton Whitlock, 6'9" Deavis Johnson, and 6'7" Hunter Sutton, led their team with 9 rebounds apiece and double digit scoring. Principia's Parker Davidson once again played a strong game ending with 15 points and 8 rebounds. The final score of the evening was Highlanders 79, Panthers 69. Principia will travel to Fulton, Mo. on Tuesday evening for another conference game against Westminster College. Tip-off 8:00 pm.
