Men’s Soccer Falls Short to Greenville 1-0

Box Score Elsah, ILL.--   Principia Men's Soccer played well against Greenville College, but left the game without anything to show for their work.

Principia dominated the play with long stretches of possession and threatening attacks.  The Principia midfield moved the ball well and kept the Greenville defense scrambling to keep up.   Yet, despite creating many great opportunities in the final third, Principia could not muster up an end product.  Principia's defense through the run of play did well to squelch many of Greenville's counter attacks.  In fact, besides the goal, Principia keeper, Ian Carlson, was only asked to make one other save during the game.   The Greenville goal came in the end of the first half from a corner kick that they headed in.

Principia Coach, Jess Semnacher, related after the game, "I am very proud of the way the men played tonight.  They were unified, fought hard, and won many of the midfield battles.   The work for us moving forward is to continue to be more clinical in the attacking third when it comes to creating and fishing chances."   Principia's loss puts them at 1-2-1 in conference play whereas Greenville moves forward with an unscathed conference record of 5-0.

Principia will take on Iowa Wesleyan this Saturday for their Homecoming match at 1:00 pm.
