Principia wins Homecoming match 9-0 against Iowa Wesleyan

Box Score Elsah, Ill. -- Principia played a conference match against Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday for their Homecoming match. Principia was grateful for all of the fans, friends and alumni that came to support. Iowa took the field with 8 players to Principia's starting 11.

Principia opened the gate in the first 3 minutes of the game when Clarice Bruch followed up an attempt in the 6 yard box, taking the bounce out of the ball to pass firmly in the goal. Shortly after, Emelie Fredrikson settled a ball out of the air with her chest and shot it upper 90. Emma Dixon, Madi Arens, Nadine Marczi, and Rachel Perea also found the net securing Principia with a 6-0 lead with a majority of time left in the first half. Principia reduced its number of players to match Iowa's 8 on the field. The score at the end of the first half was 6-0.

In the second half, Principia's Marczi, Vanessa Ramirez-Jasso and Alex Weitman put another 3 tallies on the score board. This match gave the Principia players that don't usually see a lot of playing time an opportunity to keep the intensity high and create quality chances in the attack. The final score was 9-0.

Principia looks forward to playing their friendly alumni match on Sunday followed by another conference home game on Tuesday against Blackburn College.
