Men's Soccer delivers on Homecoming weekend with a 8-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan

Box Score Elsah, Ill. -- Despite the weather reports, Homecoming turned out to be a most beautiful day for soccer. The men's team started the double-header against Iowa Wesleyan at 1:00 pm allowing supporters to grab a BBQ lunch and find a spot to enjoy the match. And enjoy they did, as Prinicipia won 8-0.

The game today allowed for the men to find their rhythm in goal scoring. This issue which has plagued the team did not rear its ugly head as Principia finished on many different opportunities in conjunction with holding the Tigers scoreless.

The first goal of the game came from a David Bader assist to Briggs Hurley.  The second goal was a composed finish by Kevin Silcox and was assisted by Richard Bonsi.  The next two goals where both assisted by Hurley and scored by freshman David McLeod-Warrrick.  The following two goals by Ross Johnson and Pierson Gill were unassisted.    Johnson scored when he cleaned up a loose ball on a Principia corner kick and slammed the ball into the goal.   Gill cooly scored his goal by pushing the ball past the keeper to end the scoring in the first half with a score of 6-0.

In the second half,  Principia finished the game with two more goals.  One was a cannon fired from Nick Klusmeyer from 30 yards out that went into the upper 90.  For the final goal,  McLeod-Warrick returned the favor from the first half and assisted Hurley with a pass that Hurley turned on and fired into the back of the net.

The Panthers have a stretch of four home games these next two weeks.  The next match is at home this Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
