Box Score Elsah, Ill. -- The Principia Panthers took the Blackburn Beavers by storm this Tuesday night in a conference match at home. In the first 38 seconds,
Madison Arens and
Emelie Fredrikson made a quick give-and-go pass to break down the flank to find
Clarice Bruch in front of the net who was able to get a foot on it to score the first goal of the night. Principia's composure possessing the ball was fueled by an energy that kept everyone engaged and communicating. In the 20th minute, Bruch scored her 2nd goal by taking the ball out of the air to hit it with the inside of her foot towards the far post. The assist went to
Nadine Marczi. Shortly after,
Georgia Mae Hurley put her name on the score board by slotting a ball near post skimming the armpit of Blackburn's diving keeper. The score at half was 3-0.
Principia took the field in the 2nd half with the goal of keeping the energy high. The Panthers continued to test Blackburn's keeper and broke through when Arens made a give-and-go pass in the 18 yard box and placed the ball in the back of the net far post. Finally, and perhaps the piece-de-resistance of the goals scored tonight was one by
Alexandra Weitman who redirected a free kick with a one touch volley that soared into the upper corner of the goal. The final score was 5-0.
Principia looks forward to their next home match on Thursday night against Westminster College at 8:00 pm. Due to other scheduling conflicts, this match will not be broadcasted on PIR.
