Men's Soccer celebrates three seniors for final home game

Box Score Elsah, Ill. -- Close enough only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Unfortunately for the Prinicpia men's soccer team, the cross bar and ridiculously close shots have been the bane of the team's existence, including tonight when they fell 3-1 to Fontbonne University.

It was a hard fought senior night for Christian Thomas, Richard Bonsi and Kevin Silcox. The team stepped up with Briggs Hurley continuing to play the role of playmaker in the middle. Finishing chances was a struggle but finding the back of the net happened late in the game for Principia on a free kick by Hurley and a slide in finish by Silcox into the upper corner.  A flurry of chances continued after that goal, but to no avail and left Fontbonne on top in the end.

Principia celebrated three seniors tonight at halftime, Richard Bonsi, Kevin Silcox, and Christian Thomas.  Head coach Jess Semnacher comments, "We had a really good senior celebration for these guys...we are just so grateful for all that they have given to the men's soccer program.  Their wisdom and leadership has been immeasurable this season and I just want to say thanks!"

Saturday, Principia travels to Jacksonville to take on MacMurray College in the final game of the season.  The game is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
