Principia celebrates its 3 seniors in final home game of the season

Box Score Elsah, Ill. -- Principia honored seniors Nadine Marczi, Georgia Mae Hurley, and Justine Roy in their last home game against Fontbonne University. The team demonstrated great effort throughout the match, which resulted in a 1-1 tie in double overtime. The team also showed their family and friends supporting them tonight the tenacious, yet poised group of women that they are. The seniors continued to lead by example with work ethic, intelligent play, and polished skills.

In the majority of the first half, Principia kept possession and found breakaway opportunities into the attack. Sophomore outside midfielder Vanessa Ramirez-Jasso assisted a pass to Madi Arens who drove dribbling into the 18-yard box to score far post. The ball was cleanly placed on the ground away from Fontbonne's keeper. Principia lead 1-0 at half.

After a halftime celebrating the 3 seniors and recalling all their accomplishments within the program thus far, Principia returned to the pitch to finish the match. Although Principia dominated possession for most of the second half, Fontbonne got a goal on the scoreboard in the final minutes of play sending both teams into overtime. Principia didn't give up and continued to fight for 2 overtime periods. Unfortunately, Principia wasn't able to finish and the game resulted in a 1-1 tie. We are grateful to our 3 seniors and their families for all their support throughout the years.

Principia plays their final match for the season at MacMurray College this Saturday at 3:00 pm.
