Principia Men’s Soccer falls to Spalding University 2-1 in conference battle

Box Score Louisville, KY. --  Principia Men's Soccer falls to Spalding University 2-1 in conference battle.

Spalding showed they arrived to play when they scored  in the 4th min off of a set piece.  Principia senior Kevin Silcox answered later in the half with a header off a Briggs Hurley cross in the 33rd to give the game a halftime score of  1-1.   Spalding opened up the second half with another goal in the 48th minute to take the 2-1 lead. Despite having some of their best opportunities in the game, Principia was not able to find the equalizer.  Principia's best chance came from a strong effort from senior Richard Bonsi who got in behind the Spalding defense but saw his shot pushed wide by the Spalding keeper.

Principia head coach, Jess Semnacher, stated at the end of the game, "Spalding defended well today.  We had a hard time penetrating their back line.  We still have a ways to go to realize our attacking potential.  …it's just a matter of us working together and find ways we click.  I am proud of the effort of our men.  They stayed the course the whole game, worked together and fought well".

Principia has a bye this upcoming week.  Their next game will be Oct 13th in an important conference match –up verse Greenville College.
