Box Score Elsah, ILL. -- The Principia women's soccer team played a non-conference match up against regionally ranked Washington University on Prin's home turf Tuesday night.
Wash-U had a quick start scoring a couple goals in the opening minutes of the first half. Principia continued to fight showing moments of strong possession and getting into the attack. Freshman, Madi Arens, didn't make it easy for Wash-U in the midfield by turning, beating, and muscling her opponents. At half, Wash-U was leading with the score 4-0.
Principia entered the second half with the desire to get more out of the match. The defense made recovery runs and efforts to maintain possession as much as possible; however, Wash-U's high pressure earned them 2 additional goals in the second half.
Junior keeper,
Genevieve Smith, came up with some big saves throughout the night. Overall, Principia did a solid job competing for 90 minutes regardless of the scoreboard. The final score was 6-0. Principia looks forward to their next match at home against Lindenwood-Belleville.
