Rocky 1st half proves Panther's undoing; Men's Basketball falls 53-68

Box Score ELSAH, Ill. - Tonight the Principia College men's basketball team faced the Millikin Blue Boys in their latest home contest of the season.  The start was a back and forth affair, with both teams trading baskets, but with Millikin slowly gaining a slight advantage.  The Panthers were able to hang around however, due in large part to the offensive play of Adaku Anumu, who's multi-faceted scoring kept the Blue Boys scrambling to find a match-up.  Unfortunately, around the 8 minute mark Millikin went on a 10-0 run, extending their lead to 31-18 before a pair of free throws from sophomore captain Parker Davidson stopped the onslaught.  As it would turn out, this was a hole that the Panthers would never quite recover from, and Principia would head into the locker room at half time down 20-38.

The offensive woes for the Panthers continued in the 2nd half, but around the 15 minute mark Principia caught some momentum.  Anumu converted a lay-up that was immediately followed with a bucket from sophomore forward Jeff Ross which would cut the Blue Boy's lead to ten.  The back and forth continued, but the Panthers would never get closer than 10 points, despite some solid offense by Anumu and Davidson.  At the final buzzer, Millikin came away with the win 68-53.  Notable statistical contributions include Anumu with a team high 25 points, and Parker Davidson who had 16 points and a game high 12 rebounds.

The Panthers will play next in their conference opener at Eureka College this coming Tuesday, December 1st.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
