Men’s Soccer blanks Eureka College 3-0

Box Score Eureka, Ill. –  Principia College men's soccer reigned victorious for the first time this season on Tuesday afternoon against the Eureka College Red Devils, recording a 3-0 shutout. Both the field conditions and the weather leveled the play, but the Panthers were able to overcome it with a composed performance.

The bulk of the scoring opportunities for Principia came in the latter portion of both halves, with the "gamechangers" having a significant influence on each goal. Principia's first goal was placed home by Zeke Ouellette in the 30th minute, his first collegiate goal, after a Laurencce Martins free kick founds its way to his foot inside the box. David "Joey" Bader doubled the score in the second half when he finished off a flurry of well-strung passes with a sweet left-footed volley. Briggs Hurley, who has now scored in two consecutive games, sealed the game by finishing a 1v1 opportunity off an exquisite 30 yard through ball from Ouellette that split the defense open.

The Panthers achieved their objective of going to a difficult away field and collecting three points. They hope to take this momentum with them when they travel to Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday for a critical conference matchup.  Game time is set for 2:00 pm EST.
