Women's Soccer defeats Eureka College 9-0

Box Score Eureka, Ill. - This afternoon Principia College women's soccer traveled to Eureka, Ill. where they came out strong and defeated Eureka College 9-0.  Freshman midfielder Madison Arens scored the first goal off of a rebounded shot.  Senior Georgia Mae Hurley scored the next two goals one of which was after a courageous play made by freshman Laura Cluthe to get Hurley the ball in the box.   Sophomore Emelie Fredrikson had a hat trick in the game scoring the 4th, 6th and 8th goals.   Fredrikson also had a cross that ricocheted off a Eureka defender into the net that was recorded as a Eureka "own goal".  The other two goals were scored by senior Nadine Marczi and sophomore Clarice Bruch.  Marczi scored with a ripping shot into the top corner.  Senior Justine Roy gave the assist to Bruch who got behind the defender and slotted the ball past the keeper.  Another highlight of the match was Taylor McIntire's debut as an outside forward and found herself several times in the box battling for the ball and recorded a shot on goal.  Junior keeper Genevieve Smith recorded the shutout. 

The women's team will play next this Saturday, October 3rd in Louisville, Ky. against Spalding University. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm EST.
