Panthers Fall to Blue Jays 81-72

Box Score Elsah, Ill

The Principia Panthers took on the Westminster Blue Jays in a game that was the half way mark of the SLIAC schedule for the Panthers. Principia fell behind early in the first half and was never able to fully recover from the initial push of the Blue Jays. Despite cutting the lead to 7 in the second half, Principia could not get any closer, eventually falling 81-72.

The Panthers took the very early 5-2 lead on a three pointer from Connor Savoye, but that would be the last lead that Principia would have. Westminster gradually built their lead up to 17 on a three pointer from Nick Carlos midway through the first half. Principia fought hard to keep within striking range, as a Parker Davidson three pointer cut the lead to 11 going into halftime.

Throughout much of the second half, the lead stayed between 14 and 11 points. A Jeff Ross lay up with 13:19 left cut the Blue Jays lead to 7. That would be as close as the Panthers would get the rest of the night. After cutting the lead to 8 with just under 4 minutes left, a three pointer by Westminster's Tanner Cochran put the game out of reach. Westminster came away with the 81-72 win.

Standout performances for the Panthers came from Adaku Anumu and Parker Davidson. Anumu finished with a game high 33 points, while Davidson chipped in with 18 points and a game high 9 rebounds.

Principia next plays at Home against Euerka College on Saturday, January 23rd at 3:00 PM.
