Box Score The Panthers showed up, played well and prevailed over MacMurray tonight in their final night home game. With a fiesty opponent in Mac, Principia kept their composure whilst Mac received several yellow cards. Junior, captain and central midfielder
Briggs Hurley had a great game tonight, dominating the midfield and causing a lot of problems.Â
For various reasons, there was a new starting lineup out on the field tonight. This meant that freshmen
Jordan Jones and
Aaron Marczi both got to light up the field and the scoreboard. This also allow David McLeod-Warrick to get a win in the net.Â
Early in the first half, Hurley put a ball in on a free kick that
Zeke Ouellette headed back to Jones for the first goal of the match. However, MacMurray evened the score just moments later. Halftime came with Principia dominating but MacMurray pulling out all the stops.Â
Second half produced a beautiful juke and fine finish from Marczi, again on an assist from Hurley. Poise and power allowed him to put Principia 2-1. The Panthers didn't look back as Jones put home his second goal of the game with a drill the keeper couldn't find until too late. MacMurray found the back of the next with just under 20 minutes left and kept the foot on the gas trying to equalize. Principia finished strong and pulled out the victory.Â
Thursday night the Panthers travel to Wash U for a non-conference match up at 7:30pm. Principia's final home game and Senior Day is this Saturday when they host Eureka at 3pm.
