Men's Soccer unable to overcome one goal deficit

Box Score Carlinville, ILL. -- The second half push of the Principia Men's Soccer team this afternoon at Blackburn in Carlinville, Illinois was not enough to overcome the one goal deficit. With an assortment of challenges on the team, yet a new starting line-up hit the field.

The first half was filled with close opportunities, including some great saves from goalkeeper Nick Klusmeyer. But a breakaway through the backline created the one and only goal of the game for Blackburn.

The second half the Panthers came out fighting. Dominating the play led primarily by freshmen and newcomers including Aaron Marczi, Jules Kitchingman, Jose Lucero and Jordan Jones, the Panthers simply could not find the back of the net. David McCook and his backline kept things quiet for the most part for Klus, keeping the game within reach.

The drought in scoring continued and ultimately led to the inability to pull out a win. The Panthers will face off in their final game of the season at Fontbonne in St. Louis on Saturday.
