Men's Soccer battles to a 3-2 double overtime victory over Iowa Wesleyan

Box Score Mount Pleasant, IA. -- Principia Men's Soccer battles back from 2-1, short handed deficit to defeat Iowa Wesleyan (IW) 3-2 in double overtime.  Principia's first goal of the game happened in the first half from sophomore Nick Klusmeyer off of a corner taken by Briggs Hurley.   IW scored the next two goals of the game early in the second half.

The Panthers, down 2-1, with 20 mins to go were hit with more adversity when one of their players received a red card.  Down a man, Principia continued to fight for a goal.  It was not until the 90th minute, with 54 seconds on the clock, that sophomore David McCloud-Warrick scored the equalizer off a Briggs Hurley free kick.  Then, seconds before the end of regulation IW suffered a red card of their own which brought the teams playing even with 10 players a piece.

Principia was rewarded for their relentless effort early in the second overtime when freshman Jordon Jones slipped a through ball to freshman Gabriel Theodoro who, 1 v 1 with the keeper, was able to slot the ball into back of the net for the walk off game winner.

Principia plays next this upcoming Monday at home against the Monmouth Scots at 6:00 pm, come out to support your Panthers!
