Principia succumbs to pressure in loss to Carroll University

Box Score Waukesha, WI-- In the headliner for the opening night of the Pioneer Tip-off classic the Panthers took on the host Carroll University and despite some tough defense from the Panthers, Carroll was able to win 75-57.
 
The game started off well for the Panthers as Senior Captain Adaku Anumu hit a 3-pointer off an assist from Parker Davidson. After some back an forth play Carroll was able to take an early 10 point lead but the panthers rallied back with a 5-0 run on two free throws by Tre Goodman and another 3 by Anumu. 
 
The Panthers struggled to finish layups and missed a few open shots from distance that enabled Carroll to build a 15 point lead at half. 
 
The first half was called very tight with 21 personal fouls being whistled. The Panthers managed to connect on 5 of their 7 attempts from the lines. 
 
Carroll continued to show off why they were ranked 33rd in the nation pre-season with some impressive offensive execution and defensive discipline. That didn't stop the Panthers though from making some runs in the second half including a 9-2 run late in the game as Micah Paulson and Anumu both connected from the 3-point line and Paulson hitting 3 free throws as well. 
 
Justin Ball also made his mark in the second half with some impressive defense finishing the game with 4 blocks while also altering a number of others. Ball also hauled in 7 rebounds. 
 
Anumu led the Panthers with with 20 points while Davidson chipped in 6 to go along with 8 rebounds.
 
Up next the Panthers play St.Scholastica in their second game of the tournament. The game will start at 1 pm.
