Panthers Compete Well but Fall to Albertus Magnus

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, SC – The Panthers faced the Albertus Magnus Falcons in a double-header on Thursday. Though they received solid pitching in both games, the Panthers dropped both games. They fell 6-2 in game one and 7-6 in game two.

Game 1

Aleq McMullin received the start on the mound for the Panthers. He pitched well, going 6.1 innings. Though McMullin allowed five earned runs, the Falcons did not hit too many hard hit balls off of him. Alex Stamos entered in relief and recorded the final two outs for the Panthers.

Liam Foster led the Panthers with a pair of base hits. However, the Panthers struck out 11 times in the seven-inning game, which proved to be costly. The Panthers ended up scoring two runs, but ultimately fell to the Falcons, 6-2.

Game 2

Parker Tibbetts was the starting pitcher in the second game. He delivered a nice outing, going four innings, while allowing just two earned runs. He struck out four along the way. Jake Kearney came in to relieve Tibbetts and turned in two innings without allowing an earned run. Both pitchers did an excellent job of attacking the strike zone and challenging the Falcons.

Hunter Mehring, Zach Grennie, and Jeff Ross, were the catalysts for the Panthers offense in game two, as each of them accounted for multi-hit games. Zach Grennie picked up his first career triple as well.

The Falcons scored the game-winning run in the home half of the seventh inning on a walk-off double to left center. The Panthers played much better baseball in game two, as their approaches at the plate were much improved. The final score was 6-5 in favor of the Falcons. The Panthers will look to compete with Alfred State University tomorrow in their last game during spring break, which begins at 12:00 noon Eastern Time!
