Women's Soccer drops away game 1-5 to Central Iowa

Box Score Pella, IA. -- The Principia women's soccer team traveled to Pella, Iowa last night for a game against Central College today. Central came out strong, scoring two goals early in the game. With about 8 minutes left in the 1st half, Central scored their 3rd goal. Principia fought to get back into the game before the end of the half, but were unable to create any offensive opportunities. 
 
Central came out on top once again at the start of the second half, scoring two more goals and gaining a 5-0 lead. With 12 minutes left in the game, Principia flipped their switch and took some control of the game. After a great combination between midfielders, Rachel Perea found the ball at the top of the 18 and was able to pull it past two of Central's defenders before getting a clear shot off for Principia's first goal. The game ended with a 5-1 loss. 
 
Although Principia ended the day with a tough loss, they congratulate the team for breaking Central College's 5-game shutout streak. 
 
Special recognition goes to Rachel Perea for her goal and her constant composure around the field and keeper Libby Lewis for her great saves and aggression on the ball.
 
Principia plays again at home this Tuesday at 6:00pm against Millikin University.
