Box Score FULTON, MO-- The women faced off against the 2015 SLIAC Conference Tournament champions, Westminster College for their first conference game of the season. It was a well even match in which each team traded off creating close scoring opportunities. The panthers gained the first initial momentum and goal scoring opportunity when a ball over the top allowed for senior,
Rachel Perea the running space to have a one on one with the Westminster keeper. However, Westminster's keeper proved herself a worthy opponent for the panther's attack, not only stopping this first breakaway but all of Perea's breakaways.  The panthers were unable to capitalize on their opportunities but that didn't stop Westminster, who got a goal 20 minutes into the half after beating a defender on the endline and crossing in the box to an open teammate. The first half would end with the panther's trailing behind 1-0.
The panthers rallied back early in the second half and scored an equalizer after a few passes inside the 18 between Perea and Tanya Marquardt finally ended with Marquardt getting the goal. Momentum was quickly shifted to the panthers but Westminster would not be discouraged and managed to gain the lead once again after a quick one-two around the backline allowed for a slotted ball behind Panther keeper,
Libby Lewis. Westminster got their third goal when, once again, the panther defense got caught watching and a center midfielder shot the ball one time over Lewis' head for the 3-1 lead. Westminster would end up running the score 4-1 before the panthers were able to capitalize on an opportunity when
Clarice Bruch took a 30 yard shot over the Westminster keeper with three minutes left in the game.  As much as the panthers tried, they were unable to tie the game and it ended 4-2.
The panther's next game is on Saturday, away, against Greenville College at 5pm.    Â
