Box Score Greenville, IL. - Tonight featured a battle between Panthers'. The Principia Panthers traveled to take on the Greenville Panthers in a key conference game. In what turned out to be a back and forth affair, the Panthers of Greenville prevailed, 10-9.
Alex Stamos toed the rubber this evening. Although he didn't have his strongest outing of the year, Stamos kept his team in the game and put them in a position to win. He went 5.2 innings, scattering 10 hits and nine runs (six earned). He fanned four batters as well.
Parker Tibbetts entered and tossed the final 2.2 innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out a pair.
The wind was howling all night. Principia made five errors and Greenville made three errors in the game. Principia stranded nine runners on base in the game.
Hunter Mehring caught fire, collecting three hits in four at-bats.

Jeff Ross chipped in with base knocks of their own. Principia tallied 14 hits and nine runs but it wasn't enough to secure the win, as Greenville walked off with a 10-9 victory.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, Principia clawed their way back into the game by scoring runs in four of the next five innings. They capitalized on a key defensive miscue and rallied for five runs in the sixth frame to take a 9-7 lead. Greenville responded with two runs in the home half of the sixth to knot it up at nine apiece.
The game remained tied 9-9 entering the bottom of the ninth. Tibbetts induced a ground ball but an errant throw to first allowed Greenville's Shane Olmstead to advance to second. The next batter laid down a sac bunt and moved the the winning run to third base. Tibbetts made another good pitch to the following batter, but he put it in play and the Panthers made another costly error and the winning run crossed the plate.
The Panthers return to action this Monday night for their senior day games against Greenville. Game times are scheduled for 5:00 and 7:30 and seniors will be celebrated between the games.
