Elsah, ILL. -- The Women's Basketball team played Westminster at home on Tuesday evening and it was the second time these two teams met this year. Westminster won tonight by a score of 76-70, but the Panthers fought until the end.
The Panthers led after the first quarter 28-21 and at half 38-34. But Westminster outscored the Panthers in the 3
rd quarter and Principia couldn't catch them in the fourth. Mirrakohl Johnson from Westminster scored 32 points and the Panthers weren't able to find a way to shut her down.
A Look at the Box Score:
Megan Selby was the high scorer for the Panthers with 25 points, including seven 3-point shots.
Nikki Matters added 21 points and led the team in rebounds with 12.
Hannah Hathaway continues to be tough on the boards with 10 rebounds and some great defensive plays.
Good to know:
Principia has shot 70% or higher from the free throw line all season, but tonight shot 47%, which made the difference in the game.
They said it:
"I was very happy with the play tonight, especially our offense in the first half. We shot 64% in the first quarter! We still need to work on help defense and work hard to win each quarter. And I know we shoot better from the free throw line than we did tonight."
