Lady Panthers play well in loss to Illinois College

Jacksonville, ILL. -- The Women's Basketball team traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois to take on Illinois College.  The Panthers gave up too many points in the first quarter but came back to outscore IC in the second and third quarters.  It was one of the best played games by Principia, but the scoring inside due to Illinois' height was too much for the Panthers. The Panthers ended up losing 45-61.

Key moment:
Nikki Matters led the team in scoring with 20 points and Libby Lewis contributed 10.  Hannah Hathaway was once again tough on the boards.  The team was 6 for 8 from the free throw line and once again kept their turnovers down.

Good to know:
Although the Panthers played Illinois College in their first game of the season, this was a different roster as they suited up 4 of their varsity players.  It was a well-played game by both teams.

They said it:
"No one wants to lose, but this was the best play by the team all season.  It was exciting to see the team run the offense and set up good scoring possibilities. We were definitely outsized, but we hung in there and played tough defense."
