Volleyball with Season Sweep over Iowa Wesleyan

Mount Pleasant, IA. -- The lady Panthers beat Iowa Wesleyan University in three straight games tonight in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The Panthers started out strong with a decisive 25-16 win. Both teams struggled with offensive errors in game one, but Principia tightened things up and played solid defense to control the game. IWU picked up their play in games two and three, and worked to keep Principia out of system, but Principia won the out of system battle, and took advantage of every in system opportunity!

The Panther offense had everyone contributing, and Sophia Hathaway, Noelle Shoemake and Jessica Bayne combined for 28 of the Panther's 39 kills with the team hitting .197 for the outing. Principia also won at the service line with a 6:1 ace to error ratio, compared to IWU's 1:5. The Panther defense was a great team effort with everyone picking up digs and Devon Marunde, Noelle Shoemake, Hathaway, Mia Gill and Nikki Matters all digging in the double digits.

She said it:
Transfer Jessica Bayne shared, "You could really feel the energy in the gym tonight, from both sides. I love the atmosphere the team brings to the court. It gets me fired up and all I want to do is pound the ball and play 'for her'."

Up Next:
Principia travels to Eureka to finish up round one of the season with a double header against Westminster College (6pm) and Eureka College (8pm).
