Lady Panthers celebrate 3 seniors on Senior Day match against Greenville

Elsah, ILL. -- The Women's Basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a home game against Greenville University and lost 56-65.  The game was closer than the score indicates as the Panthers fouled on purpose at the end, which ended up adding some more points to Greenville's win margin.  They were 22 for 30 from the line. Once again the second quarter hurt Principia as they were outscored 11-22 after scoring evenly the other three quarters.

Key moment:
Principia decided in the third quarter they had to make up at least half of the 12 point deficit and did make up four points.  The Panthers came within 1 point in the 4th quarter but couldn't pull away.

Good to know:
Nikki Matters was Principia's high scorer with 19 points and Megan had 11, including three 3-point shots. Tanya Marquardt had her best game with 4 steals and 7 points. Principia shot 35% from the field, but only 55% from the free throw line, which is not typical of this team. Hannah Hathaway was once again the high rebounder with 7.

They said it:
"The ladies played tough the entire game and caused Greenville to have 25 turnovers.  It was too bad that our shots wouldn't drop in the 2nd quarter, as they weren't bad shots. I was impressed with our defense and overall play. I wanted this win for the players as they always work hard to the end."
