Women's Basketball takes down Robert Morris Springfield in final game of the season

Elsah, ILL. --The Women's Basketball team played their last game of the season at home against Robert Morris of Springfield.  This was the second game this season against Robert Morris, with Principia beating them the first time in overtime.  Tonight the Panthers never let Robert Morris get ahead and Principia won all four quarters. Principia shot 36% for the game in field goals, with Robert Morris only shooting 27%.

The Panthers pressed from the beginning of the game and played pressure defense the entire game as well.  At halftime Principia led 34-26 due to some great shooting, including three 3-point shots.

A look at the box score:
Nikki Matters was the high scorer with 38 points, including shooting 12 for 13 from the free throw line.  Megan Selby scored 13.  Nikki also led the team in rebounding with 12 rebounds.

Good to know:
This was the last game for our three seniors, Tanya Marquardt, Megan Selby, and Alex Weitman.  We will miss these three ladies and thank them for all they have contributed to Panther Basketball.

They said it:
"Tonight was bittersweet as we played our last game of the season.  It was so rewarding to see the women play well and to have all players on the team get playing time. We out-rebounded Robert Morris and shot over 70% from the free throw line, which are two of our game goals.  These women have worked hard all season and I am so happy for them to have this victory."
