Men's Tennis starts season off 2-0 win wins over Central and Lewis and Clark

Elsah, ILL. -- Playing in their first match of the 2018 spring season, Men's Tennis welcomed two teams to Principia College to compete in a tri matchup with Central College of northern Iowa, and cross town JUCO, Lewis and Clark. The Panthers coming off just two weeks of preseason training and a long holiday break, demonstrated that they were antsy to compete.  In the first match up, Central College demonstrated solid fundamentals in both doubles and singles, but overall the strength of the Panthers proved too much for the Dutch team, closing out the match with a 7-2 decisive win.  After several hours' break the Panthers returned to play the Trail Blazers in an exhibition match (win or lose, the match has no bearing on the Panther's overall record since LCCC is a junior college). The dual concluded 4 hours later after both 5 and 6 singles Brody Swan and Peter Griswold, duked out their individual contests with come from behind wins, giving the Panthers their second decisive team win for the day at 9-0.  Freshmen Cameron Wood and Elliott Matheisen, enjoyed playing a practice match trading spots at 7 singles for each match.

Wyatt Dale began his varsity collegiate athletic career as a freshman starter atop the playing roster at #1 singles and #1 doubles for the Panthers squad.  

Up Next:
The Panthers meet Illinois College on Tuesday February 6th at 5:00 p.m., at home.  The team then competes again at home in Hexberg Tennis Center on Saturday February 10th at 1:00 p.m., versus Knox College.
