Elsah, ILL. -- The Women's Basketball team played Washington University Club on Tuesday, February 6th. The Panthers lost by a score of 55-66 and the teams played even, except the third quarter when Washington University outscored Principia by 7 points.
The Panthers and Wash. U. were even in rebounding and shooting percentage. Principia only shot 26% from 3 point line while Wash. U. shot 53 % and 71% in the first half.
A look at the box score:
Principia had 15 turnovers, while Wash. U. only had 7. While the Panthers cut down Wash. U's outside shooting the second half, they could not stop their drives to the basket.
Good to know:
Nikki Matters continues to be Principia's high scorer with 27 points, including 2 three's.
Megan Selby had 13 points with three 3-pt. shots.
Libby Lewis and
Nikki Matters led the team in rebounding with 8 each.
They said it:
"I felt that we played a tough game but ran out of steam the second half and thus got beat on defense. After halftime we stopped the outside game, but then allowed too much penetration. While I was happy that we scored 55 points, we have to find a way to stop the other team. I did see some nice passing and diving for loose balls by our players. They played with a lot of passion."
