Panther Baseball Wins Final Spring Break Game 6-3

Providence, CA – The Panthers wrapped up their Spring Break trip in front of another good Principia Alumni crowd.  This time they were on the winning side of things.  Hosted by the Providence Christian Sea Beggars (9-20), the Panthers were looking to pick up a W before heading home.

Parker Davidson led the Panthers with two hits and a walk.  The Panthers tallied four hits and plated 6 runs in the 6-3 victory over the Sea Beggars.  Alex Stamos took the mound and gave a solid performance striking out 4 over 7 1/3 innings pitched.  Sean Hannan came in as relief and struck out 3 in his 1 1/3 innings pitched.

A leadoff walk to Parker Davidson got things started for the Panthers.  A wild pitch and stolen base later, and Davidson was on third and scored on the Eddie Bargmann single.  The Panthers took the lead and held on to it the remainder of the game.  They scored again in the second when McMullin led off with a walk.  He stole second and eventually scored on the sacrifice fly by Davidson.  Held scoreless in the third and fourth, the Panthers reached the pen and tack on a few more in the fifth to secure their lead.  They added another in the 7th after a Ryan Eisenauer double who was singled in by Davidson.

The Sea Beggars scored one in the third.  A single and double put runners on second and third.  With the corners in, a fielder's choice to short scored a run, but the runner on second was cut down trying to advance to third to get the first out.  A single later, Stamos picked up the second out picking off a baserunner and got himself out of any more trouble ending the inning on an infield pop-up.

The Sea Beggars were held scoreless until the 8th. The Panthers then allowed two unearned runs, but Hannan finished the game off and keep the Sea Beggars from mounting a comeback in the 9th.  The win marked the ninth win for the Panthers.

He Said It:
"It was good to see Stamos throw well and go deep to help keep arms fresh.  It felt good to win the last game.  It's a nice way to send us home and into conference."
-- Sean Hannan when asked about the win.
