Elsah, ILL. -- What a great end to a progressive season with wins over Lewis & Clark and Ottawa. The Sandy Panthers swept Lewis & Clark 6-0 with solid performances across the board. As the Panthers waited for their next match of the day, the rain fell and temperatures dropped. The Sand Box was messy and the rain saturated balls were heavy, but Principia was ready to work for another victory, coming out on top 5-1.
The team showed marked progress in their serve receive this final day, minimizing unforced errors and scoring in-system much of the time. In system the Panthers were able to hit deep sand and short, as well as scoring on some beautiful cuts and rainbows. Another area of great progress was defensive execution. Coach Sprague had this to share, "The team has always been gritty, but this weekend they were able to keep the ball in play with well executed defense, and more importantly convert those defensive balls into points!"
Thanks to all who hung out at the Sand Box this weekend cheering us on, and congratulations to the women for the best season in the short history of beach volleyball with 6 team wins!
