Panther Baseball Drops Two to Webster

Sauget, IL.  — Principia College traveled to GCS Ballpark to take on Webster University.  Stephen Strong started for the Panthers in this midweek conference matchup.  Webster University is currently the number one seed in the SLIAC West division.  Ed Bargmann, Zach Grennie, and Aleq McMullin each had two hits in game one.  Jake Kearney and Strong each contributed a hit.  The Panthers plated one run in the second and added another in the sixth.   Down 8-2 in the top of the seventh, Liam Foster and Nathan Wood both scored as the Panthers kept battling.

Zach Grennie started on the mound in game two and worked through 3 innings before he was relieved by Jeff Ross.  Ross, making just his second appearance of the season, was roughed up by the strong Webster bats and relieved by Nathan Wood.  Wood worked out of the jam and went back out for another inning before turning things over to Brett Huntley.  Huntley got the Panthers through the 6th as the game was shortened by run rule.  The Panthers offense struggled to find its rhythm in game two as the Webster pitching scattered three hits.  Parker Davidson, Zach Grennie, and Liam Foster each had one hit.
