Principia wins their quarter-final match against Fontbonne in the morning match at Dwight Davis tennis center.
Gracie Buchanan and
Dani Lomascolo came from behind to earn an important win at #2 doubles. They trailed 5-7 love -40, down three match points, at that moment the team played scrappy steady tennis to pull out the game. Principia finally took the set in a tie–breaker 7-3. Principia earned their first match win from
Sarah Switzer and
Amber Heady, #3 doubles . They made strong volleys and took control of the net.
Hallie Jones and
Olivia Kasprzyk competed well and were tied at 4-4 but Fontbonne picked up their game and played aggressive tennis.
Leading 2-1, at the start of singles play the team needed three matches to complete the win. Principia earned those wins from steady play by
Sarah Switzer, #4 singles,
Dani Lomascolo, #5 singles, and

In the afternoon, Principia faced #1 seed Webster in the semi-finals. Webster undefeated in conference play and coming off a 9-0 win over Principia the week before was eager to repeat their performance. Webster swept all three doubles matches but Principia earned a few more games in each match and played better tennis. Principia was down 0-3 moving into the singles matches.
Olivia Kasprzyk, Principia's #3 singles, was ahead in her match 5-4 when the match was decided by Webster. The complete scores for the Webster match are below.
On Saturday, Principia plays Greenville for third place in SLIAC. It is an opportunity for Principia to reverse the score from prior matches. The team is ready to play and end the season with a win. Come out to Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forrest Park at 11 AM to cheer for the team!
