Elsah, ILL. -- Principia played a double dual match against NAIA Ottawa University (Ottawa, KS), and ended the day 2-0!
Ottawa was 30-13 in indoor volleyball, earning a spot in the NAIA National tournament, and then the school decided to give Beach Volleyball a try. The team is very athletic and brings that extensive indoor knowledge with them, but Principia's work on the sand really paid off. There was only one winning match that went to a 3rd deciding game, and all of the others won in 2 straight sets.
It was a beautiful day - 40 degrees and sunny, although gusts of around 20mph kept the day interesting. The Sand Box was filled with great fans, fun music, and some well played volleyball. Thank you to all who came out!
Coach Sprague shared this, "Every pair brought a great energy and the readiness to battle for the win. I saw each team display a nice varied offense, serve tough enough to not let OU find a rhythm, win the ball control game, and model the way for gritty defense and the ability to turn that D into points. It was an exciting day. I'm very proud of all of the women."
