Principia Panthers slink in a tough loss to the Greenville Panthers.  Greenville ran away with the all three doubles matches.  They came out strong and were aggressive at the net, poaching on returns and putting away volleys.   
 
In singles, only #3 Olivia Kaprzyk, was able to earn a win.  Olivia hit great forehand crosscourt winners and scrambled around the court playing great defense.  When the opportunity arose to take the offensive Olivia moved into net and put away volleys and overheads.  She also hit many deft lobs after she pulled her opponent into net.  In other exciting play, Gracie Buchanan, at #1 singles, had many long points.  She too moved fluidly from offense to defense and ended many points at the net.  Gracie had a brief lead in the first set tie-breaker but she was not able to win the last few points.  She played well in the second set but lost 6-3.  Hallie Jones, had a lead in the first set but did not finish to close out the set.   Complete scores are below.
 
The team plays two more matches this week. On Thursday, they travel to Blackburn, and on Saturday they play Fontbonne at home.  Saturday is Senior day and we invite everyone to come out and honor our seniors: Gracie Buchanan, Olivia Kasprzyk, and Belle Abbott.  The presentation will be at noon.
