Lady Panthers fight hard for a road win over Franklin JV

Franklin, IN. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Franklin, Indiana to play a game against Franklin JV. The trip began with a stop in Terre Haute, Indiana for lunch and a picture in front of the Larry Bird statue. The team continued their trip to Franklin for the first game of the weekend, they also play Spalding in Louisville, KY on Saturday. The game was a well-played game by the Panthers and the score went back and forth until the last few minutes when Principia pulled away. When Franklin tried to press, Principia broke the press with a lay-up. Principia mixed up their defenses starting in a man to man and then playing both a 2/3 and 1/3/1 defense. The team was 17 for 24 from the line and this included Anna Webster shooting 5 out of 6 free throws in the 4th quarter.

Good to Know:
Nikki Matters had a great game scoring 37 points. Sophia Hathaway scored 15 and had some amazing blocks. All of the players really stepped up on defense the 4th quarter and won the game due to good free throw shooting and holding Franklin from scoring in the final minutes.

They said it:
"This game was so much fun to watch. The players played unselfish ball. Most importantly, you could tell the team was having so much fun playing. After a visit to the Larry Bird statue on our trip to Franklin, we played some good Indiana basketball."
