Carlinville, IL-- Women's soccer traveled to Blackburn College today for a game on the Beaver's newly renovated field. The Beavers gave the Panthers a tough time defensively making it difficult for the Panthers to find the back of the net with the Panthers out shooting the Beavers 11-2. It wasn't until late in the first half that the Panthers got their goal when back,
Taylan Hayes made a great forward run down the line and found Viviane de Castro for the one time shot to the upper left corner. It didn't take long for the Panthers to get their second goal when de Castro passed it to
Sophia Hathaway in the middle of the 18 who turned for a quick shot past the Beaver keeper. The half would end with the Panthers leading by 2.
The Panthers would still struggle to convert shots to goals in the second half and the Beavers would pick up their intensity out shooting the Panthers 11-8.
Hannah Hathaway kept the Beavers scoreless, making five important saves. The Panthers would score again in the 50th minute with a goal by
Sophia Hathaway, assisted by
Annika Friborg. The game would end with the Panthers coming on top 3-0.
The Panthers play again Tuesday, October 15 at home against Greenville University at 6pm.
