Elsah, ILL. -- Hay Field House was packed for Senior Night as the Panthers took on Iowa Wesleyan University. The Panthers lost in three straight, but fought until the very end.
A look at the match:
Iowa put down 10 more kills than Principia and they definitely tightened the screws with some tough and pinpoint serving up 9 aces compared to Prin's 3. Principia won the blocking game 6-3, and the two teams both dug 62 balls.
Good to know:
Devon Marunde and
Nikki Matters were the soul of the Panther's game tonight. The team really had a hard time getting their motor running – too many unforced errors! Marunde and Matters were steadfast and fiery, and helped the team keep pushing until they got a little momentum. Nikki led the offense hitting .286 with 9 kills.
Jessica Bayne added 12 kills at .050. On the defensive side of the ball, Marunde was tough at the net tallying a couple of blocks, along with picking up 10 digs. To round out the defense Libero
Amanda Roberts picked up 21 digs and Matters had 12.
Next up:
The Panthers finish their season with two home matches tomorrow against MacMurray at 11am and Westminster at 3pm.
