Panthers scratch out one win against Occidental Tigers

Glendale, CA—

On a perfect tennis day in Southern California Paige Cooley earned a win in singles. Paige hit winners with her powerful forehand.  In the other singles matches all the players competed well and played steadier tennis.  In each match the Panthers are gaining experience that will prepare them for conference season when they return to conference play after spring break.

Yesterday, the team went to the professional tennis matches at Indian Wells, California.  They got to see three matches with Federer starting off the morning with a straight set win.  In the second match, Rafa Nadal won in 2 tight sets and at the end of the day Novak Djokovic delighted fans with some good doubles play.  It was a perfect tennis day for tennis enthusiasts.

Monday the team takes on Bowling Green on neutral courts in San Diego.  Come out at noon and see us play at Barnes tennis center in San Diego.
