Principia earns 2 royal wins against Cal Lutheran Regals

Thousand Oaks, CA--

The women's team wraps up their spring break training trip with two wins.  In an exciting doubles match the women's #1 doubles team pulled out a win with great team work and quick hands.  The team held serve to go up 7-6 but could not break and the score was evened at 7-7 and a match tie-break would decide the set.  The team went up 4-2 and switched ends.  They did not lose another point and won 7-2.  After the doubles, the team was behind 2-1.
 
At #1 singles, Paige Cooley, fell behind 3-0 before the tightened up her game and started controlling the points with her strong forehand. She pulled out the first set 6-4.  In the second set the score was evened at 4-4 and Paige hit some winners with her forehand and played great defense.  In the final game Paige opened the game with an ace. She also hit two service winners and won the match with an error from her opponent.   Complete match scores are below.
 
The Panthers start conference play this week with two matches this coming week. The spring break training has sharpened their match skills and they are ready to work hard and bring home a SLIAC Championship.
 
Come out and support the team at home on Saturday, March 30 against Simpson College.
