Principia storms through Simpson line up 9- 0

Elsah, IL—

On a stormy Saturday, Principia women's tennis dominates their second match of the day against Simpson College. With an easy, breezy win in the morning against Fontbonne, they went into their second match confident and focused. With an overall score of 9-0, the team proves once again that their trip to California was a great way to prepare them for their conference season.

Gabby Kitchingman, #1 doubles and #2 singles, mentioned that "playing tough NCAA Division III and one Division I  colleges during our spring break trip to California, helped with my victories today. My ability to try different shots improved during my matches. I have been hesitant in the past to charge the net and put away points, but now I feel more prepared. I was pushed to play out every point with focus and concentration. I never felt that my attention on the games today was broken or distracted. I think that is due to the amount of work we put into practicing  over break."

The overall win today was a great way to start off the conference season for the women's tennis team. Hallie Jones, former team captain and #4 singles, mentions that "it feels good to be back. I sat out the first few weeks of the season to focus on my studies, but practicing over break helped to prepare me for our conference matches today. I felt like I had better control and was able to close out shots without very many mistakes."

Sarah Switzer, #6 singles, mentioned that she "loved playing on our home courts after an awesome trip to California where I was able to practice my game strategy against top teams." The team performed incredibly today and left their courts with two team victories behind them. Another successful game day for the Principia Panthers!

The next conference match is away on Monday against the Greenville Panthers. They are a top team in our conference and it will be a good opportunity to see  improvement.   Thursday, the team is at home against Blackburn at 4:30PM.  Come out and support the team!
