ELSAH, ILL.-- Game one looked like it would be a close game early on with Alex Stamos on the bump. The Blue Devils would score first in the fourth inning and would never look back as they scored again in the fifth, tacked on four more in the sixth, and sealed the deal with a seven run 7th. The Panthers made several uncharacteristic errors in the field which allowed the Blue Devils to capitalize. The Panthers struck out 10 times in game one and were unable to plate a run.Â
Game two  featured Aleq McMullin on the mound. After two quick outs, the Blue Devils would score on back to back doubles to take a 1-0 lead. They plated two more runs in the second and one more in the third. The Panther would respond this time with two runs in the third to cut the lead to two. Freshman Jack Adler would enter the game to pitch in the top of the 7th. He did an outstanding job keeping the Blue Devils off the board for two of the three innings he pitched. The Panthers offence did produce one more run in the fifth, but were unable to overcome 19 strikeouts in game two.Â
They Said It:Â
"We have come a long way so it was disappointing to see the number of mental mistakes we made today. It's tough to win a ballgame with number of extra outs and bases we gave them. They are a good hitting team so they capitalized on our mistakes and made us pay."
UP Next:Â
