Elsah, ILL. -- Principia College hosted the Webster Gorloks in a midweek conference series. Freshman
Chris Stamos earned the nod for the Panthers. Webster started the day 20-8 and 10-3 in conference. After two strikeouts in the top of the first, Webster showed their strength and got on the board first with a solo shot. A walk and an error allowed Webster to plate another to take an early 2-0 lead. With two outs in the third, Principia committed a second error that would allow another Gorlok run. Another unearned run in the fourth and another in the fifth stretched the lead to 5-0. In the bottom of the 6th the Panthers worked to fight back in the game with a hit by pitch and error to get two base runs.
Zach Grennie showed patience at the plate working a 3-0 count then launched his third home run of the season to cut the Webster lead to 6-3. Errors plagued the Panthers in the 7th inning which started with another error that Webster capitalized on plating 3 more runs. In his pinch hit appearance,
Luke McCutcheon, battled before grounding out to second putting his first ball into play.
Webster jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game two, but the Panthers showed fight early.
Blake Lesky led off with a double, followed up by singles by
Stephen Strong and
Zach Grennie. The Panthers scored two more to take a 3-2 lead. However, the lead wouldn't last long and Webster's bats showed their power. When the game wrapped up, Webster tallied 6 home runs, 16 hits and 21 runs.
Sean Hannan picked up his second home run of the season in the 6th but Webster ran away with game two.

Principia travels to Louisville, KY to take on Spalding University this weekend with a single 9 scheduled for Friday and a double header for Saturday. Spalding, 21-7 (10-1) will be a tough match up. Look for the Panthers to bounce back from a tough midweek series.
