Elsah, ILL. -- Principia and Greenville wrapped up their conference series with a double header today. Greenville, off to a hot start with an undefeated 8-0 conference record. Principia came out looking to shake off yesterday's loss and get back on the right track. Sunny and 70's made it a perfect day for baseball.
Stephen Strong made the start for the Panthers with just his second start of the season. Strong threw well going six innings leaving the game with a 6-4 Greenville score with runners on first and second no outs. Unfortunately the wheels fell off and the Panthers were unable to respond in the bottom of the 7
th. Greenville went on to win, 13-4 as they tacked on seven runs in the seventh. The Panthers offense in game one was led by
Chris Stamos who had two hits. Six other Panthers collected a hit. Freshmen
Jack Adler and
Chris Stamos and junior
Ryan Eisenauer each had an RBI.
Aleq McMullin was on the bump in game two as the Panthers looked to take one from the rival Panthers. Greenville took an early lead and didn't look back. They pushed across two runs in the first. McMullin settled in and threw well the next several innings. Credit Greenville in finding ways to manufacture runs. Aleq only allowed 5 hits in his 7 innings pitched but Greenville was able to plate 5 runs.
Jack Adler threw in relief and had two strikeouts over his two innings of work. Principia scored two runs on six hits in game two.
Jack Adler put the Panthers on the board with his fourth home run of the season.
Blake Lesky led off the bottom half of the sixth with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He then scored on a ball put in play by
Jack Adler.
The Panthers will face Fontbonne on Tuesday night down in Clayton at Shaw Park this Tuesday with games starting at 7pm and 9pm. The Panthers will look to rebound from this weekend's three losses.
