Final minute loss for women's soccer

Elsah, IL-- The Principia College women's soccer team hosted Earlham College today in the first game of a double-header.

Principia found the back of the net first with a through pass from Georgia Rather to Hannah Sipe. Rather slid the ball through the backline to a faster Sipe who calmly found the far corner in the first 15 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Earlham who would not be deterred, found the back of the net to pull the game even at 1 apiece.

A full team attack later in the half created an offensive corner for Principia. After a great first opportunity, the Panthers created a second offensive corner. This time Annika Friborg found Rather's head for a convincing finish to bring the Panthers in front again. Just before halftime though, EC finished a second time and the teams went into halftime 2-2.

The second half was back and forth with Earlham having some good opportunities. In the last third of the game, the Panthers went to strengthen their attack in hopes of avoiding overtime. But in the final three minutes, Earlham finished their game winner and the game ended 3-2.

While Earlham overall had the run of play for the match, Principia continues to make great strides i. their play. The women travel to Lincoln Christian on Tuesday to continue prepping for conference play in the second half of the season.

Principia's next game is Tuesday, away, against Lincoln Christian at 4pm.
