Volleyball Plays Tough, but Falls Short

Elsah, ILL. -- The Principia Panthers took on the Lincoln College Lynx tonight in a non-conference matchup.  This was another tough test for the Panthers, and although they improved in their fight and execution, it wasn't enough to take down the Lynx for the win.

A Look at the Match:
The volleyball team hosted Lincoln College tonight, and came out on the short end of the stick. The Principia women played with discipline and passion, and created some very nice scoring opportunities. However, Lincoln had a lot more fire power out-hitting the Panthers .301-.122. That .122 was the best hitting outing for the Panthers with the current roster, so that's progress! Both teams held their offensive errors to 10%, and that's right where we want to be. "We just need to terminate more balls, and I felt tonight the players went after the right stuff….just couldn't execute enough", shared Coach Sprague.

Good to Know:
-Madi Leslie really stepped up her presence tonight hitting .375 and posting 1 solo block and 2 block assists.
-Devon  Marunde, Amanda Roberts, Greer Sprague and Sarah Ungerleider all served 100%.
-Nikki Matters was tough tonight – putting down 11 kills with zero errors, hitting .314.
-Amanda Roberts played soulful defense tonight picking up a team high 14 digs, and three other Panthers dug in double digits – Devon Marunde (13), Nikki Matters (12), and Greer Sprague (10)

Next Up:
The Panthers travel to Louisville, Kentucky to play in the first SLIAC matches of the season versus Spalding at 10am (EST) and Blackburn at 12pm (EST).
