Terre Haute, IN--  Women's soccer traveled to Indiana early this morning to play St. Mary of the Woods College. The first half would be a disappointing showing for the Panthers as they lacked energy, intensity, and composure. Nevertheless, it was a back and forth battle between the two teams, both getting scoring opportunities but to no avail. The half would end 0-0.
The second half the Panthers played with a little more alacrity. Their movements off the ball, composure, and passing made it fun to watch. They controlled the pace of the game through their ball control yet SMWC were always ready to counter which made for another battle between the two teams. SMWC were not making it easy on the Panthers to get quality opportunities on goal, their defense was tough and physical. Despite the Panthers' new sense of purpose, it was not enough to finish the game forcing it to go into overtime.
The game was fairly even during overtime but it would be SMWC who would come away with the win in the last 9 seconds of double overtime.
The Panthers play again Tuesday away against Monmouth College. Â
