The Panthers opened their season at home tonight against the Harris-Stowe University Hornets. Principia played a great game, leading throughout until winning by a mercy rule in the sixth inning 13-5. The team played well defensively behind pitching from
Alyssa Hudenburg and solid performance all around from the rest of the team. Offensively the Panthers came out hot, opening the game with a home run from
Lauren Daugherty, and keeping the pressure on from there.

Principia Top Performers:
Delaney Gatine went 4/4 with one RBI.
Lauren Daugherty went ¾ with 3 RBIs including a triple and a homerun.
Alyssa Hudenburg had an ERA of 2.33 for the first game along with 4K's.

Game 2:

The second game of tonight's double header was tough. The Panthers opened the game giving up 10 runs to Harris-Stowe in the first inning. However, a strong third inning rally, led by
Delaney Gatine,
Alyssa Hudenburg,
Hannah Hathaway, and
Lauren Daugherty brought the Panthers back into the game. Principia had strong defensive innings after this, combined with another strong offensive inning in the sixth to cut the Harris-Stowe lead to 4, but the Hornets pulled away again in the seventh inning and won the game 17-10.

Principia Top Performers:
Delaney Gatine went 4/5 with two doubles,
Hannah Hathaway went ¾ with a double and two triples, and
Lauren Daugherty also went ¾ with one double. Catcher
Lauren Daugherty also caught four runners stealing this game to along with six assists.
