Carlinville, IL. – Principia traveled to Carlinville, Illinois, to play Blackburn College Beavers in a critical conference match. Unfortunately, Principia ultimately lost 0-5.
With only 11 shots, the Panthers couldn't string together much offense compared to the 23 shots the Beavers produced. The seven shots on goal were all saved by the Beavers goalkeeper, Dawnson Klunk. Overall, the Panthers had many outstanding individual efforts on the field but couldn't click as a unit.
The Beavers started the game off strong by scoring on the Panthers within the first minute. However, the Panthers couldn't keep up with the Beaver's relentless offense for the rest of the game. Captain EG Pierce was consistent in the second half, trying to get forward. Finally, he had the shot of the game - a first-time shot set up by Reggie Kiwhele. The shot-blasted just inches past the back post. Liam Peschke had an incredible diving slide tackle to keep the ball in play and play the ball away from the Beaver's winger.
"It was a tough loss, but we cannot get discouraged. We only have a few days to prepare for our next match, so that the following few practices will be precious. I still believe in this team," commented assistant coach David McCook
Up Next: The Panthers will travel to Eureka, Illinois, to play Eureka College on Tuesday, October 19th at 3:00 PM.
