Elsah, IL- The Principia Men's soccer team was upended by Spalding University on their home turf this Tuesday morning after the game was rescheduled to avoid later rain showers.
From start to finish, Spalding was firmly in control of their destiny. Principia fell behind 2-0 but was fortunate enough to get on the score sheet after a botched corner kick by the Spalding keeper. The goal went to Walter Lazo.
Principia showed great effort from the start of the second half. Delwys Glokpor had two great runs, which were dangerous looks, but Principia's actions were just not enough to penetrate the Spalding defense. It was a disappointing outing for the Panthers, but they will look to regroup versus Fontbonne next Tuesday.
"It was a tough loss for the guys, but there was a lot of hard work left out there on the field. This team is going to continue figuring it out - we have to do a better job marking in our box and continue building a more dangerous attack," said assistant coach David McCook.
Up Next: Principia will travel on Tuesday, October 5th, to Fontbonne University to take on the Griffins at 6 pm.
