Panthers Continue to Make Progress in Weekend Tri-Match

Carlinville, IL - The Principia College Women's Volleyball Team traveled to Blackburn this morning to play the Beavers and the Golden Eagles of Spalding University.

The Panthers played Spalding in the opening match and continued to show their growing ability to stay in rallies and give themselves opportunities to score. Paige Fowler, Madi Leslie, and Alana Hinson led the team in kills, and Aaliyah Scott and Angie Whitmore had service aces. Spalding defeated Prin in straight sets, but a positive tone had been set for the rest of the day.

Against Blackburn, the Panthers had 2 of their best games, hitting a season-high .276 in set one. Set 2 also showed a solid offensive performance as the team averaged nine kills. Leslie was the standout performer with nine kills and an excellent .381 hitting percentage. Fowler, Hinson, and Lindsey Huffman also contributed kills. The Beavers also defeated the Panthers in straight sets, but the improvement is evident.

"We are still looking to put our best match together. We had a couple of our best sets today, and it was exciting to see a much higher kill percentage with fewer errors. Blocking and digging were also better. We are home for two last, two matches, and I hope that we can see our best matches happen." -Rich Eisenauer
